The opportunity
Reporting to the CFO, Commercial Finance Manager will play a critical role in driving Protecht’s financial strategy and ensuring the financial health of the company. This role involves providing valuable insights into revenue, sales performance, costs, profitability, and overall business performance.
The Commercial Finance Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable data-driven decisions, enhance financial planning, and contribute to the strategic growth of the company within the SaaS business model. This role will be instrumental in the strategic planning and financial analysis for Protecht Group.


What you'll Do
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Prepare, analyse, and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models for SaaS business operations. Provide in-depth analysis and insights to inform decision making.
  • Revenue Recognition & Reporting: Track and report revenue streams, ensuring accurate recognition in line with SaaS-specific accounting principles. Improve current reporting processes to streamline and accelerate reporting to senior leaders.
  • Data Analysis & Insights: Analyse financial and business data to uncover trends, variances, and areas for improvement; provide actionable insights for decision-making. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure end to end data capture and meaningful analysis.
  • KPIs & Metrics Management: Monitor and report on key performance metrics such as MRR, ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), churn, and customer acquisition costs (CAC). Continually review metrics and ensure alignment to performance drivers, recommending changes as needed. Engagement with key stakeholders to ensure reporting is relevant.
  • Cost & Profitability Analysis: Perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate the impact of business decisions and identify cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with various departments (Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations) to align financial plans with business goals. Provide analysis and recommendations for pricing reviews and new product pricing strategies.
  • Financial Reporting: Generate and present regular financial reports, variance analyses, and strategic insights to senior leadership, key stakeholders and the Board of Directors.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them while ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Support leadership with any additional ad-hoc financial analysis as required, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Leadership: As a senior member of the Finance team, provide leadership and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the team.

What you’ll bring
  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in a SaaS business or technology company.
  • In-depth understanding of SaaS financial metrics.
  • Advanced skills in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience in subscription-based pricing models and understanding of customer lifecycle metrics.
  • High level of financial commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting to different groups.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, including data analysis and complex modelling.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Experience with financial software or ERP systems.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic planning, thinking and focus.
  • Stakeholder management.

Nice to have
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent financial certification
